This course covers both the theory and the practice of mediation, with an extensive role-play element that simulates a wide variety of real life mediation situations. All course participants will learn to identify the stages of mediation, the role and skills of the mediator, and to improve conflict management and communication skills.
The course consists of a four-day core component, and an optional fifth day for those participants who wish to have their mediation skills evaluated for possible accreditation.
Attending the full five days of the course meets the mediator training requirements of the Law Societies of NSW, South Australia and Queensland, as well as the Law Institute of Victoria and the Bar Associations of Victoria and New South Wales.
On successful completion of the assessment day, participants receive a certificate and qualify to apply for listing on the Office of the Mediation Adviser's panel of accredited mediators.
